International Relations

The Italian Chemical Society (SCI) plays an active role in the global scientific community, collaborating with institutions and chemical societies to promote the progress of chemistry at European and global level.

EuChemS

SCI's voice in the Europe

SCI is a member of the European Chemical Society (EuChemS), the association that brings together 42 chemical societies from over 30 countries, representing over 160,000 chemists in Europe. Through EuChemS, the Italian Chemical Society contributes to the development of European scientific policies through:

  • Public consultations: Participation in public debates to influence research policies.
  • Policy workshops: Events to connect scientists and policy makers.
  • Policy monitoring: Analysis of EU policies to ensure alignment with scientific standards.
  • Scientific input: Supporting sustainability and research with reports, opinions and advice for European institutions.
Partnership

SCI promotes cultural and academic exchanges through prestigious Awards and Lectureships shared with:

La IUPAC

Global scenario

IUPAC - International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry, founded in 1919, is the world authority for chemical nomenclature, terminology and scientific standards, promoting international collaboration and the advancement of chemistry.

Italy is one of the five founding countries and is represented in IUPAC by the National Research Council (CNR) as a National Adhering Organization (NAO). The SCI actively contributes to IUPAC activities through the CNR, participating with its members in international commissions, projects and working groups, thus consolidating the role of Italy in the global chemical community.
